During the Battle of Stalingrad over a million troops were killed, wounded, or declared missing in battle. 91,000 Germans were captured during the battle and most historians agree that the Battle of Stalingrad was a crippling defeat for Germany, Romania, and Italy, one they never fully recovered from.
