The first full week of May is upon us and that means a brand new calendar of Special Events at Aces High.
It starts with Tuesday, May 7th, and a new Aces High XTreme Air Racing. Follow that up on the 8th with a new Snapshot, on the 10th with a new King Of The Hill and on the 12th with a brand new Sunday European Command.
Whatever your skill level you are sure to find some serious combat simulation thrills and chills by playing Aces High Special Events.
Happy Cinco de Mayo from Aces High! We know, we are a few days early, but we wanted to wish you a great one and we hope you have a safe and sane celebration on the 5th of May.
Here is what you should do: Invite some friends over, serve your favorite drinks and play some Aces High. There won’t be any Special Events for that day, but you can still battle each other in the normal gaming mode. Talk about a fun day. Forget about basketball playoffs and baseball games. Strap on your helmet and fly the skies of Aces High.
Special Events shift into a new month, so let’s see what we have up our sleeves at Aces High.
The last day of the month, April 30th, we have our weekly Aces High Xtreme Air Racing League. If you like thrills and chills at high speed then you won’t want to miss this one.
On May 1st we have our Snapshot scenario special event and then on May 3rd we have Frame 1 of our Friday Squad Operation, or FSO.
If you are new, or if you have been with Aces High for a bit but never participated in Special Events, then now is the time to find out what all the excitement is about.
Aces High didn’t become the best combat flight simulator by accident. Oh no, we worked hard to reach the top spot among flight sim games and we plan on staying there.
That is why we study the history of World War II so extensively, and that is why we are sharing this timeline with you. We find that war fascinating and we want to share the day by day activities that happened with you. We hope you are enjoying this look back in history and we hope you will continue to join us weekly as we look at a new month that happened during WW2.
Today we step back in time and look at January, 1942:
- 1sth Twenty-six Allied nations signed the Declaration by United Nations during the Arcadia Conference.
- 2nd Manila is captured by Japanese and also the Cavite Naval Base.
- 5th The beginning of Red Army offensive.
- 6th The British advance to El Agheila continues in Libya
- 7th Siege of Bataan Peninsula begins.
- 7th Heavy air attacks on Malta.
- 8th Japanese troops penetrated outer lines of Kuala Lumpur, Malaya.
- 9th Japanese advances in Borneo meet little opposition.
- 10th Japan declares war on Netherlands.
- 11th Japanese troops capture Kuala Lumpur, Malaya.
11th Japan invades Netherlands East Indies.
13th Red Army takes Kirov and Medya.
13th German U-boat come close to US shores.
15th German authorities deport Jews to Chelmno Concentration Camp.
19th Japanese forces take large numbers of British prisoners north of Singapore.
20th Japanese bomb Singapore as troops approach city.
23rd The Battle of Rabaul in New Guinea begins.
24th Americans land in Samoa in an effort to slow down Japanese advances.
25th Thailand declares war on United States and United Kingdom.
25th Japan invades Solomon Islands.
26th First American forces arrive in Europe in Northern Ireland
27th British withdraw from Singapore.
29th Rommel enters Benghasz, Libya.
31st Japanese take Burma and threaten Rangoon.
Remember, this is shortly after Pearl Harbor, and the United States was still reeling from the damage to its Navy and just starting to offer some resistance. The Japanese were scouring the South Pacific and grabbing up islands almost at will, but all of that would soon reverse. The United States war machine was about to kick into high gear, and when it did, the war would start reversing.
