One month before Pearl Harbor, the war was raging in Europe, and it is that month that we at Aces High would like to highlight today.  November, 1941, just before American involvement in World War II became a full-time job.

Join with us now as we take a look at a timeline of events that happened in November, 1941.

• 1^st President Roosevelt transfers command of the U.S. Coast Guard to the U.S. Navy.
• 3^rd Germany takes the city of Kursk.
• 6^th Stalin addresses the Soviet army for only the third time in his rule, giving the inspiration against German advances.
• 7^th heavy RAF night bombing of Berlin.
• 9^th the Battle of the Duisburg Convoy
• 12^th The Battle of Moscow
• 13^th Germany begins new offensive against Moscow
• 15^th Germany marches on Moscow
• 17^th U.S. Ambassador to Japan warns in cable message that Japan plans on attacking Pearl Harbor; message is ignored.
• 18^th Operation Crusader as British troops cross into Libya
• 22^nd Rostov-on-Don is captured by Germany; Britain warns Finland to end war with Russia.
• 24^th Rommel begins 15-day excursion into Egypt.
• 25^th U-331 sinks British battleship HMS Barham
• 26^th Japan launches 33 warships including six aircraft carriers, and sails towards the Hawaiian Islands.
• 27^th Battle of Moscow.

And as the month of November, 1941, came to a close, the United States was enjoying holiday shopping and preparing for family visits.  The world, as the U.S. knew it, was about to drastically change within one week.

Hello from HiTech Creations, and welcome back to your series where we highlight the activities during a particular month of World War 2.  In the past we highlighted November of 1943 and 1944, so today we will pay attention to the events that happened in November, 1942.  Kick back and join us, will you?

• 1^st Operation Supercharge as the Allies begin breaking out of El Alamein; also, the Americans begin the Matanikau Offensive against Japan.
• 3^rd Second Battle of El Alamein ends; Rommel is forced to retreat.
• 6^th Carlson’s Patrol begins
• 8^th Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of Morocco and Algeria, begins.
• 10^th Germany invades Vichy France; Oran, Algeria falls to the Allies; Convoys reach Malta.
• 12^th Battle of Guadalcanal, a naval battle between U.S. and Japan.  USS Juneau is sunk.
• 13^th British Eighth Army captures Tobruk.
• 14^th USS Washington sinks the Japanese battleship Kirishima
• 15^th naval Battle of Guadalcanal ends; British army captures Derna
• 17^th Japanese reinforce New Guinea
• 20^th Allies take Benghazi, Libya.
• 22^nd Battle of Stalingrad
• 25^th Stalingrad is encircled
• 26^th Battle of Brisbane between “friendly” forces of U.S. and Australia
• 30^th Battle of Tassafaronga near Guadalcanal

At first appearance it would seem like a rather light month of hostilities, but remember that winter had set in around Europe, thus slowing any offensive movements in that section of the war.  The Guadalcanal campaign was a prolonged naval battle that occupied the Pacific Theater for quite some time.  So although there seems to be very little action, there was in fact continued troop movement and continual attempts to out-maneuver the enemy.
