Talk:Bf 109G-14

From AHWiki

Simply copying and pasting Soda's aircraft comments into EVERY entry of the wiki is not a good idea. Much of Soda's info is extremely subjective, and some of it is not accurate.

The G-14 is faster and climbs better and accelerates better than the G2 and G6 and turns about as well as the G-6 does.

This fighter is MORE than capable of turn fighting, especially with all the raw horsepower, it can bleed energy quickly, then regain it before the enemy can.

I think it's 1) poor sport to simply mass-spam the wiki with stolen comments word-for-word from Soda's webpage, and 2) inaccurate in many cases and 3) probably doing more harm than simply letting people fill in the wiki on their own

Hi Krusty, the text from Soda's site is intended purely as a starting point. It is there to be updated and edited. Clearly where there are factual errors they should be corrected. Where the text is expressing opinion that's not broadly shared, it should be edited to reflect the general spectrum of opinion in the community. Soda's text is certainly not set in stone at all - it is purely a starting point.
And... this text is not "stolen". It's copied with Soda's permission.
The issue with what you'd added is partly one of format: we don't want these pages to be like forum discussions, with one paragraph expressing one point of view, then the next expressing the opposite; and partly one of content: we want the text to end up being coherent and succinct, reflecting broadly agreed opinion, rather than covering a whole lot of differing opinions in turn. Feel free to edit the text in that way.

  • Krusty, during the initial setup of AHWiki, HTC had said they would not want 50 completely different looking pages for 50 different aircraft. Pursuant to that, I contacted/worked with Soda on using his material for getting a format in place for the aircraft pages. 1) is incorrect 2) Use the "edit this page". That is what the wiki format is all about 3) see #2
