F6F Hellcat

The Grummman F6F Hellcat was introduced into combat in 1943, designed as a successor to the F4F Wildcat. IT was primarily used by the United States Navy and Marine Corps, the French Navy, and the British Royal Navy. Hellcats were in in virtually all engagements with the Japanese in the Pacific since it's introduction in Sept. 1. It accounted for 75% of all USN aircraft kills in the Pacific.
