It is our contention that longevity is an important factor to consider when choosing a flight sim game, and in this article we will tell you why we think that.
We are HiTech Creations, makers of Aces High, the combat simulator which has led the way in flight sim production for twenty-three years. Check out our game, free of charge, a free two-week download, no credit card required.
But, before you do that, let’s talk about this thing called longevity.
A normal occurrence with new flight sim games.
When it comes to launching a new game, we have been there, done that, and could have written the definitive book about it back in 2000. That was the year we released Aces High, our combat flight simulator.
Looking back now, it is easy to see there were many things we had not planned for, many things we had no idea we should have planned for, and many things which would require time to fix. It’s that way with the launch of any new game. You can test and re-test and re-test again, but you are going to miss something, and that is a guarantee. Thus, we fix, and we re-fix, and when all the bugs are gone, or assumed gone, we release a new version of the game . . . and the struggle continues.
It should be noted that this is true for any release for any online game. There are seemingly endless lines of code, and seemingly endless mistakes which can be made entering that code.
What we know to be true about the flight sim genre of gaming.
We know this to be true: there is no such thing as a perfect, errorless flight sim game. Every single one of the dozens which have been released, and will be released, have errors which must be fixed.
The other thing we know, which is also true for all computer games, is that they will improve as technology improves. Processors are faster and more powerful now than they were when we released Aces High back in 2000, and they will be even faster and more powerful in five years. This simply means that your gaming experience will greatly improve in the years to come.
Yes, longevity does count for much.
And that leads us to the central point of this article, which is that longevity is crucial in creating a game which has worked out all of the bugs and problems and errors which go with any game. After twenty-three years, we at HiTech Creations have pretty much worked out all of the problems. Our job, now, is to gradually improve our game as technology improves.
Keep that in mind the next time you purchase a newly released game. It may, for sure, be a great game, but it is nowhere close to being the best that it can be. That will come in time, after all of the problems have been ironed out.
A final word about Aces High.
One game and one game only, and make that game the best combat flgiht simulator on the market . . . that was our mission statement back in 1999 when we started creating Aces High, and it is our mission statement today.
